Since you’ve been sexually abused, have you had trouble sleeping, or an inability to be anything other than hyper-vigilant? Have you been dealing with flashbacks or even had an overall sense of dread? These reactions are perfectly understandable. Here at the Trauma and Beyond Center we’ve helped people for many years through trauma-informed therapy. Now, we can put that experience to work for you.
Sexually Abused: Treating Lasting Symptoms
Unfortunately, a life-threatening event that overwhelms, as being abused sexually can absolutely be, resonates throughout life. The symptoms that are a result of the event last for a long period of time even after the event is well in the past, sometimes even many years. This can manifest in any number of ways. The symptoms could be what we mentioned above: anxiety, dread, hypervigilance, nightmares, and such. However it could also come through as an inability to connect to others or form lasting relationships with them. It could also lead to symptoms such as addiction, depression, or even anger. We can help with all of these symptoms and others.
A Treatment That’s Right for You
You’ll note in the last paragraph we used the word “symptoms.” That’s because we treat each of these as just that: symptoms, and not the actual issue themselves. Too many other facilities, we’ve discovered, treat these symptoms as if they and they alone are the problem. So, that means that the underlying traumas never really get dealt with, or are only touched on for a moment. This can lead to a moment’s peace for a person, yes, but unfortunately it usually only lasts for a moment. As the underlying traumas are not properly dealt with, they can manifest themselves (sometimes even worse) in the future. When you come to our facility, we’ll put together a plan that’s right for you. That way, you get the right treatment for you and no one else.
Many Different Kinds of Treatment Modalities
At the Trauma and Beyond Center ® we have many different kinds of treatments for your needs. Some are best served with a cognitive behavior therapy. But, we may also find that the best way to treat you involves different treatments, such as somatic experiencing, mindfulness therapy, art therapy, affect regulation, and others. When you arrive here, our professionals will give you a thorough evaluation. That way, we can treat you in the way that’s best for you.
Treating the Underlying Issues: Sexually Abused, Addiction, and More
