Stop Violence Program
Mitzen Black, PsyD is a licensed psychologist currently working at the Los Angeles LGBT Center. She works as a clinician in Health Services, which is the largest provider of services to the LGBTQ+ community in the country. Mitzen works in the Stop Violence Program which has set the standard for several other organizations on working with victims of intimate partner violence in the LGBTQ+ community. Mitzen provides individual and group therapy, as well as clinical supervision. She also serves as a consulting provider for a therapy group specifically for Black clients navigating the stresses of the pandemic and the specific racial traumas that were exacerbated over the past year and a half. She also co-facilitates the letter writing group to provide mental health clearance letters for trans and gender non-conforming clients. Mitzen has a strong background in working with adolescents and adults with substance use problems. During her time working at other IOP/PHP programs, Mitzen developed a proficiency for utilization review and conducting quality assurance reviews of documentation to ensure accuracy and the facilitation of client services at the appropriate level of care.
